Coca plantations and a cocaine laboratory have been found for the first time in a Brazilian part of the Amazon rainforest, provoking worry that if there was not an immediate crackdown, it might even become a new source of deforestation.

Ummm... you can get a drug or cocaine induced mental illness.. Just so you know.
Also cocaine sucks because it can cause people to become violent and has also been known to increase suicidal and self destructive tendencies in those who abuse it.
And oh.. hard drugs like cocaine can lead to street level prostitution, crack cocaine addictions and other place where murder is a way of life.. Like in gangs competing over territory..
true...but even a crack-head has some responsibility to promoting a sustainable environment.
oh and by the way, everything you said is true of booze. Yet, oddly enough, it is socially acceptable and legal.
So, please, drug addicts and alcoholics, do some research before your next fix. Because, if you manage to procreate you will want wonderful environment where your progeny can get stoned and drunk at will.
